How to use
Take 4 capsules approximately 30 minutes before exercise. On days when you don't train, take 2 capsules in the morning and 2 capsules in the evening.
Pros and Cons
Supports performance during intense exercise
Daily dose (3,200 mg) reaches the lower end of the clinically studied ISSN recommended range
Hypromellose (HPMC) capsule – suitable for vegans and vegetarians
Free from caffeine and other stimulants
Effect is not immediate but develops with regular use
Several weeks of daily use are needed for best results
Not particularly beneficial for very short explosive efforts without a distinct endurance component
Smaller pack size (60 capsules = 15 days at full dose) means more frequent reordering
Suitable for
Runners, cyclists and swimmers
Athletes in team sports
Individuals doing HIIT and interval training
Active individuals looking to improve endurance during intense exercise
Yes. Beta-alanine doesn't work as an acute pre-workout stimulant, but instead gradually raises carnosine concentration in skeletal muscle, a process that takes weeks, not minutes. The ISSN position stand (Trexler et al., 2015) therefore recommends consistent daily intake regardless of training schedule, since carnosine concentration gradually decreases with interruptions. The manufacturer's instructions correctly account for this by recommending intake even on non-training days (2 capsules in the morning, 2 in the evening), which is consistent with scientific recommendations and helps maintain more stable muscle carnosine levels over the long term.
Splitting the dose into smaller portions (e.g. 2+2 or 0.8-1.6 g every 3-4 hours) is an established strategy for reducing paresthesia – the transient skin tingling that occurs more often with single doses of beta-alanine above approximately 800 mg-1 g in a fast-release form (Décombaz et al., 2012; Trexler et al., 2015). The effectiveness of the total daily dose is not compromised by this, since what matters for carnosine synthesis is the total daily amount, not the timing distribution within the day. The manufacturer's recommendation for non-training days (2+2 capsules) therefore makes sense both from a comfort and an effectiveness standpoint.
Yes, as far as the capsule shell itself is concerned. In this product it is made from hypromellose (HPMC), a plant-based cellulose compound, not from animal-derived gelatin, making it suitable for vegans and vegetarians. The active ingredient itself, fermented beta-alanine, also does not originate from animal sources. Nevertheless, we recommend checking any additional excipients (e.g. anti-caking agents) on the current product label before purchasing, as manufacturer formulations can change over time.
The evidence for very short efforts (under 60 seconds) is considerably less consistent than for efforts lasting roughly 1 to 4 minutes, where anaerobic glycolysis predominates and where carnosine's buffering effect is most relevant (Trexler et al., 2015). A more recent systematic review (Ong et al., 2025) also notes that the evidence base for strength and explosiveness is weaker than for high-intensity endurance. So for a 100-meter sprint, don't expect the same effect as for a 400-meter run or 1-4 minute interval training – there the scientific support is considerably stronger.
No major allergens listed.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose
Use is not recommended for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and persons under 18 years of age without consulting a doctor
Temporary tingling or prickling of the skin may occur after consumption, which is a common and harmless effect of beta-alanine
