Description of Magnesium Citrate 400 Granulate

Short summary

Mivolis Magnesium Citrate 400 Granulate contains magnesium in the form of citrate, which is well absorbed and effectively supplements daily magnesium intake. One dose (one sachet) provides 400 mg of elemental magnesium, which exceeds the recommended daily intake, and contributes to the normal function of muscles, the nervous system and energy metabolism. The orange-flavored granulate allows for easy preparation of a drink for everyday use.

How to use

Once daily, dissolve the contents of one sachet in a glass of water (200 ml) and drink. Many users take it in the evening before bed, as it may help relax the muscles, or after a workout, when the body more quickly replenishes lost fluids and minerals. It is recommended to drink the beverage after a meal, which may reduce the likelihood of a premature laxative effect.

Helps maintain an adequate balance of fluids and minerals in the body

Vegans and vegetarians
The product indeed contains no added sugar, but instead uses the artificial sweeteners sodium cyclamate and sodium saccharin, along with the bulking agent isomalt, to achieve a sweet taste. This is a common practice in sugar-free granulates and powdered drinks, since pure magnesium citrate itself has a sour to bitter aftertaste that needs to be masked somehow. If you prefer to avoid artificial sweeteners, a more minimalist alternative within the same ingredient category is unflavored magnesium citrate powder with no added sweeteners, such as Eurosup Citri Mag.
With impaired kidney function, the body has more difficulty excreting excess magnesium, which can lead to elevated serum concentrations (hypermagnesemia), which is why the manufacturer explicitly recommends consulting a doctor before use if you have reduced kidney function. Research does suggest that magnesium supplementation is generally safe in chronic kidney disease as long as serum concentrations do not exceed certain threshold values (Vermeulen & Vervloet, 2023), but this assessment must be made by a doctor based on your test results, not by general text on a website. Without prior medical approval, AdvancedU does not recommend use.
400 mg of elemental magnesium per dose is at or slightly above the generally accepted upper limit for supplemental (non-dietary) magnesium, which is 350 mg/day (NIH ODS, based on IOM 1997) – although some more recent authors believe this limit may be set too conservatively given the frequency of diarrhea as the main side effect (Costello et al., 2023). For healthy adults without kidney problems, such a dose is generally safe with normal use, with the most common consequence of exceeding it being digestive discomfort or a laxative effect. If you already consume a fair amount of magnesium through food, you may not need the full dose every day.
Magnesium supplementation of any form has shown, in systematic reviews, a moderate reduction in anxiety and sleep onset latency (i.e., the time needed to fall asleep) in part of the population (Afzal, 2024). This does not mean a guaranteed effect for everyone, nor is it a treatment for insomnia – it is general support for relaxing the nervous system that you may notice with evening use. If you have more pronounced and persistent sleep problems, we recommend consulting a doctor in addition to any potential supplementation.
No major allergens listed.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose, as it may have a laxative effect.
If you have reduced kidney function, consult a doctor before use.
Avoid additional sources of magnesium or foods fortified with magnesium, unless advised by a doctor.
