Description of NUTREND ISODRINX

Short summary

NUTREND ISODRINX are effervescent tablets for preparing an isotonic drink, which, in addition to electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium), also provide the body with carbohydrates and a rich array of B-complex vitamins and vitamin C. They are designed for the quick preparation of a drink during longer or more intense workouts, where in addition to replenishing minerals, extra energy is also important.

How to use

The dose is 1 tablet. Take it before or during exercise. For an isotonic drink, dissolve 1 tablet in 250 ml of water, and for a hypotonic drink, dissolve it in 375 ml of water.

Pros and Cons

Isotonic formula for rapid fluid absorption
Contains a full range of B-complex vitamins as well as vitamin C and E
Contains carbohydrates (7.3 g per dose) for additional energy during prolonged exertion
Available in three flavors, easy to prepare
Effectiveness depends on correct dosing according to workout intensity and sweating level
Exact amounts of sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium are not listed in mg on the label (only the total salt figure is given), reducing formula transparency compared to other products in this category
Contains two artificial sweeteners (sucralose and acesulfame K) and the anti-caking agent polyethylene glycol
Contains a relatively high sugar content (61.8 g/100 g or 7 g per dose), making it unsuitable for people with restricted sugar intake, e.g. those with diabetes or high blood pressure
Long-term use with insufficient oral hygiene may affect tooth enamel due to the acidity

Suitable for

Athletes and recreational sportspeople
Runners, cyclists and endurance athletes
Individuals who sweat heavily during exercise
People training in hot weather
Unfortunately, the label of this product does not specify exactly how many mg of sodium, potassium, calcium or magnesium each tablet contains – only the total salt figure is given (approximately 1 g per dose, corresponding to about 400 mg of sodium). This is less transparent than most other products in this category, where all mineral amounts are listed separately in mg. If precise tracking of individual electrolyte intake matters to you, e.g. due to high blood pressure or kidney issues, we recommend a product with a fully broken-down mineral panel and a prior consultation with a doctor.
The product contains 7 g of sugar per dose (61.8 g per 100 g), coming mainly from glucose and isomaltulose, which serve as an energy source for longer or more intense workouts – this is typical for an isotonic sports drink and is not inherently problematic with occasional use during exercise. However, if you have diabetes, follow a diet with restricted sugar intake, or use the product more often than just during intense workouts, consult a doctor or dietitian about the suitability of this type of product, as the label itself does not provide a specific warning for this group.
The electrolytes in this product can help replenish minerals lost through sweating, which is one of the factors associated with muscle cramps, but the causes of exercise-related cramps are not fully understood and are likely multifactorial – one study did show somewhat fewer cramps when using an electrolyte-amino acid drink compared to plain water, but the differences were modest (McIntosh et al., 2024). The product therefore cannot be presented as a reliable solution against cramps, but rather as one of several supportive measures.
The label only provides a general warning not to exceed the recommended daily dose, without specific instructions for at-risk groups such as pregnant women, people with kidney disease, or high blood pressure. Given the sodium and sugar content, we recommend using the product mainly during actual physical activity and increased sweating, rather than as an everyday drink at rest. In people with chronic kidney disease, the risk from additional potassium or sodium can be serious (Sarnowski et al., 2022), so we recommend consulting a doctor beforehand in such cases.
No major allergens listed.
Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dose
Due to the sugar and sodium content, consult a doctor before use if you have diabetes, high blood pressure or kidney disease
