How to use

Partly. The potassium and magnesium in the product contribute to normal muscle function, which is a general, permitted claim for these nutrients, not a promise that the product will prevent cramps. Clinical evidence on electrolyte drinks and cramps is mixed – one study found fewer post-exercise cramp occurrences with an electrolyte-amino acid drink compared to a standard carbohydrate-electrolyte beverage, but the differences were modest, and the mechanism behind cramps remains multifactorial and not dependent solely on electrolytes (McIntosh et al., 2024). Cramps are also often linked to muscle fatigue, genetic predisposition and environmental temperature, so an electrolyte drink is no guarantee that you won't experience them.
This is indeed a shortcoming of the product – the manufacturer explicitly states in milligrams only the potassium content (300 mg per sachet), while the exact amount of sodium, which comes from sodium citrate and Himalayan pink salt, is not disclosed. The manufacturer itself acknowledges in the product description that the sodium content is relatively low compared to specialized electrolyte products designed for very intense sweating. For comparison, expert recommendations for replenishment during prolonged exercise suggest a target concentration of roughly 500-700 mg of sodium per liter of fluid (Pérez-Castillo et al., 2024). If you need precise control over your sodium intake, for example during long endurance events, we recommend a product with sodium content explicitly stated on the label.
This is genuine independent testing – a batch of the product (wild berries flavour, 112.5 g package) was tested by the external laboratory Planton, and the report on microbiology and heavy metals is publicly available on the manufacturer's website. This is a rarity in this product category – most comparable electrolyte products on the market do not disclose independent testing at all. Since the testing covers microbiology and heavy metals, but not necessarily testing for banned substances under a standard such as Informed Sport, we recommend the product to competitive athletes as well, with the caveat that you should check the specific requirements of your sport.
The product is primarily designed for days involving fluid loss through sweating – during exercise, in hot weather, or after physical exertion – not as an everyday replacement for water. With moderate, everyday fluid intake, the average healthy adult generally does not need electrolytes from supplements, as they get enough from a balanced diet. A systematic review has shown that severe hyponatremia caused by excessive intake of plain water without electrolytes is rare but can be serious (Rangan et al., 2021) – this confirms the value of electrolytes primarily during prolonged, heavy-sweating exertion, rather than the necessity of daily use for a sedentary or moderately active lifestyle.
