Description of Refresh Hydration Drink

Short summary

Malinca Refresh is a powder for preparing a hydration drink with electrolytes, creatine, coconut water, and B vitamins along with vitamin C. It is intended for individuals who want to support hydration, replenish lost minerals, and reduce fatigue during sports, heat, or demanding days. One sachet provides approximately two-thirds of the recommended daily intake of magnesium.

How to use

1 to 2 sachets per day. Mix the contents of one sachet into a glass or bottle of water (300-500 ml) at any time during the day and drink. For a more refreshing taste, you can add ice to the drink. In case of significant fluid loss, you can consume 2 sachets. An electrolyte drink makes the most sense when you lose more fluid and minerals through sweating, but it is not intended as a complete replacement for regular water intake.

Pros and Cons

Contains key electrolytes: magnesium, potassium, and sodium
Contains creatine monohydrate
Added B vitamins and vitamin C
Magnesium is in well-absorbed forms (bisglycinate and malate)
No added sugar
Gluten-free and naturally lactose-free
Suitable for vegans
Contains no carbohydrates, so it does not replace energy sports drinks during prolonged intense exercise
The amount of creatine per sachet (1500 mg) is lower than the most commonly used daily doses for athletic performance (typically 3-5 g)
Contains stevia sweetener, the taste of which does not suit some users
Serves as a supplement to hydration, not a replacement for sufficient water intake

Suitable for

Athletes and recreational sportspeople
People who sweat a lot
Individuals who are frequently physically active
People who want to support hydration during hot days
Individuals who want to get magnesium and vitamins in addition to electrolytes
Vegans and vegetarians
Partially, but research results are mixed. One study showed that an electrolyte drink with added amino acids reduced post-exercise cramps compared to a regular carbohydrate-electrolyte drink after exercise, but the differences were modest, and the mechanism of cramps is multifactorial and not dependent solely on electrolytes (McIntosh et al., 2024). Refresh contains magnesium, potassium, and sodium, which contribute to normal muscle function, so it may help reduce the risk of cramps, but we cannot guarantee it will prevent them – cramps are often also linked to muscle fatigue, training, and individual factors.
Not entirely. One sachet of Refresh contains 1500 mg of creatine monohydrate, which is less than the dose (3-5 g daily) most commonly used in sports literature to support muscle performance and recovery. If you take creatine primarily for its effect on strength and performance, Refresh alone will likely not be sufficient, and you would need to supplement the dose with a dedicated creatine product. However, if creatine in Refresh is just a bonus ingredient alongside electrolytes and hydration for you, the included amount is a sensible addition.
Yes, according to the manufacturer's information, Refresh is suitable for vegans, as it contains no ingredients of animal origin – among the ingredients are creatine, plant-based magnesium and potassium minerals, coconut water, natural colors (beetroot concentrate, riboflavin), and stevia sweetener. This sets it apart from some other electrolyte products in this category, which use gelatin capsules and are therefore not suitable for a vegan diet.
If you have chronic kidney disease, we recommend consulting a doctor before use, regardless of which electrolyte product you are considering. Refresh contains relatively high doses of potassium (341 mg) and magnesium (250 mg) per serving, and with kidney impairment, potassium excretion can be impaired, which can lead to hyperkalemia regardless of which potassium salt it comes from (Sarnowski et al., 2022). This warning is not explicitly stated on the product label, which makes it all the more important to consult a doctor familiar with your lab results before regular use.
Not evident from the label.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose
In case of significant fluid loss, up to 2 sachets per day may be consumed
If you have kidney disease or other chronic health conditions, consult a doctor before regular use, as the product contains both potassium and magnesium in relatively high doses
