Description of AllNutrition Isotonic

Short summary

AllNutrition Isotonic is an affordable powder for preparing an isotonic drink with a full electrolyte panel (sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium), designed to replenish fluids and minerals during endurance training or exercise in the heat. The formula also includes a complex of B vitamins and guarana extract, but it also contains two synthetic colorants for which a legally mandated warning regarding children is required on the label.

How to use

Dissolve a serving of 31.5 g (2 scoops) in a bottle with 700 ml of water. Use before, during (every 15 minutes) and after physical activity (approximately 200 ml).

Pros and Cons

Contains five electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium), all with precisely stated mg values per serving
Sodium (350 mg/serving) reaches the recommended range for electrolyte replacement during exercise at the recommended dilution
Among the most affordably priced products in this category (€8.99/700 g)
Added B-vitamin complex
Available in four flavors
Magnesium is added in the form of magnesium carbonate, which has lower bioavailability than citrate or glycinate forms
All carbohydrates come from pure glucose without fructose, which can be less gut-friendly at high concentrations
Contains the artificial sweetener acesulfame K and two synthetic colorants (quinoline yellow, sunset yellow)
Contains guarana extract (a natural source of caffeine) without the exact caffeine amount stated
The carbohydrate percentage at the recommended dilution (approx. 3.7%) is slightly below the typical isotonic range of 4-8%
No publicly available independent laboratory test results

Suitable for

Endurance and recreational athletes looking for an affordable isotonic drink with a full electrolyte profile
People training in hot weather or who sweat heavily and need sodium within the recommended range for exercise
Adult users who tolerate caffeine from natural sources (guarana) well
People who want precisely verifiable content of all key electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium) on the label
The product contains the colorants quinoline yellow (E104) and sunset yellow (E110), for which EU legislation requires a mandatory warning that they may have an adverse effect on children's activity and attention – this warning is also stated on the product's own label. For this reason, we do not recommend this product for regular consumption by children. In addition, the product contains guarana extract, a natural source of caffeine, which is also not suitable for children. If you're looking for an isotonic drink for a child, choose a product without these two colorants and without caffeine sources, and consult a pediatrician if needed.
Yes, guarana seed extract (Paullinia cupana) is a natural source of caffeine, but the manufacturer does not state the exact amount of caffeine per serving on the label, which makes precise dosing difficult, especially for people sensitive to caffeine, pregnant women, or breastfeeding mothers, for whom regular caffeine consumption is not advised. Dietary supplements can sometimes be a source of unexpected ingredients due to raw material variability (Dietary Supplements as a Major Cause of Anti-doping Rule Violations, PMC8990797, 2022), so it makes sense to factor in this unknown caffeine amount when calculating your total daily caffeine intake from coffee, tea, and other sources if you are sensitive to it.
Yes – at the recommended dilution (31.5 g per 700 ml of water), the sodium content (350 mg per serving) reaches approximately 21-22 mmol/L, which is within the recommended range of 20-50 mmol/L for electrolyte replacement during exercise (McCubbin, 2025). So the lower price of this product does not come at the expense of sodium content, which is actually well positioned within the recommended range for this product. The compromises in this product lie elsewhere – primarily in the form of magnesium used and the added synthetic colorants and sweetener.
Magnesium carbonate is a less soluble, less bioavailable form of magnesium compared to citrate or glycinate forms (Chronic Organic Magnesium Supplementation…, PMC12847085, 2025). In this product, magnesium (60 mg per serving) is not the main active ingredient but a supporting electrolyte within the overall isotonic profile, so the impact of lower absorption is less critical than in a standalone magnesium supplement, where the goal is to reach a specific daily magnesium intake. If magnesium matters to you primarily for its role, we recommend a separate supplement with magnesium citrate or bisglycinate, and treating this isotonic drink mainly as a source of sodium and potassium.
May contain traces of cereals containing gluten, soy, and milk.
Do not exceed the stated recommended daily dose.
The product contains the colorants quinoline yellow and sunset yellow, which may have an adverse effect on children's activity and attention – therefore it is not recommended for children.
Due to its guarana content (a natural source of caffeine), the product is not recommended for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, children, or people sensitive to caffeine.
May contain traces of gluten-containing cereals, soy, and milk.
If you have hypertension or kidney disease, consult a doctor before regular use due to the sodium content.
