Instructions

  1. 1In a pot of salted boiling water, cook the whole grain shells according to the package instructions until "al dente". Before draining, reserve 0,5 dl of the pasta cooking water.
  2. 2Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 4–5 minutes until it becomes translucent and softens.
  3. 3Add the ground turkey meat. Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook for about 6–7 minutes, until it fully changes color and lightly browns.
  4. 4Stir in the garlic, oregano, sweet paprika, salt and pepper. Sauté for just 1 minute until the garlic becomes fragrant, then pour in the pureed tomatoes.
  5. 5Simmer the sauce over low heat for 10–15 minutes, until the flavors meld and it thickens slightly. If the sauce is too thick, add a tablespoon or two of the pasta cooking water.
  6. 6Add the drained shells to the pan with the cooked sauce. Mix everything well so the sauce coats the pasta, and serve immediately.
