Instructions

Cut the tomato and mozzarella into thin slices. Place them on a paper towel and gently blot to remove excess moisture and prevent the bread from getting soggy.

Arrange the tomato slices on two slices of whole-grain bread. Sprinkle the tomato evenly with dried oregano, salt, and ground black pepper.

Place slices of light mozzarella and fresh basil leaves over the tomato. Close the sandwiches with the remaining slices of bread.

Place the sandwiches in the toaster and toast until the mozzarella melts and the bread crust turns golden brown.

Once the sandwiches are toasted, remove them from the pan and, while still hot, gently rub the crispy crust with a halved garlic clove, which will leave a wonderful Mediterranean aroma. Cut and serve.
