Instructions

1
Wash the peppers, dry them, and place them whole on a baking tray. Bake in the oven at 200 °C for about 20–30 minutes, until the skin browns and blisters.
2
Transfer the hot peppers to a bowl and cover tightly for 10 minutes. The steam will soften the skin, making it easier to peel.
3
Peel the peppers, remove the seeds and stems. Drain the pepper flesh so the spread doesn't become too watery.
4
Add the cleaned peppers, garlic, walnuts, olive oil, lemon juice, and spices to a blender. Blend to the desired texture (completely smooth or with slight chunks).
5
Taste the spread and season further if needed. Let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving so the flavors can meld.

Nutritional benefits

Thanks to the high vitamin C content from the peppers and omega-3 fatty acids from the walnuts, this dish supports immune system function and heart health.
